About us.
We’ve always done things our own way; Innovating new services, nurturing people with ambition and finding better ways for our profession to do good.
Why MSB?
MSB is a progressive, full-service law firm that prides itself on providing legal services to meet the needs of the communities we serve.
Established in 1988, the firm has forged a reputation for excellence of service and has been the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Law Society’s Legal Excellence Award for Practice Management. We are also proud to be ranked in the Legal500 and Chambers & Partners.
MSB was founded and continues to be based in the Liverpool City Region and through reputation and niche, has gained a national reach.
We practice modern law to reflect a modern society. We value all of our clients equally. Whether you have an ultra-net worth matter or are experiencing difficult and vulnerable times, we are confident we have the knowledge and experience to assist you.
Emma Carey, Managing Partner
Emma Carey qualified in 2000, before succeeding Paul Bibby as Managing Partner of MSB in March 2018. As Managing Partner, Emma is responsible for the implementation and delivery of the firm’s business strategy.
Equality, Inclusion and Diversity
At MSB, we are aware that barriers to entry to the legal profession still remain, often discriminating underrepresented communities. We are committed to making the industry reflect the diverse communities we serve.
Our Managing Partner, Emma Carey has implemented an Equalities Committee with representatives in minority groups, LGBTQ+, Women, Social Mobility and Disability.
MSB was the first Liverpool business and only law firm to attain the Navajo LGBTQ+ accreditation and as such, have implemented progressive policies including enhanced same sex maternity and paternity leave, adoption leave and paid leave to transition.
We take a holistic approach to management and believe that there are many perspectives required to run a law firm successfully. We are proud to have three non-lawyer partners.
As a commitment to social mobility, MSB became one of the first law firms in Liverpool to accommodate the Solicitor Apprenticeship.
Environmental, Social and Governance
For many organisations Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) is a peripheral issue and is very much focused around charitable giving.
At MSB, ESG is embedded within our organisation and runs through our very core. It influences the way we run our business and everything that we do.
Across MSB, our staff sit as trustees of 21 charities and social enterprises.
As lawyers, we believe passionately in access to justice and deliver a well-established, weekly pro-bono clinic at women’s charity and social enterprise, Blackburne House.
