This role will involve providing crucial support to a Team Leader/Senior Conveyancer in managing their caseload and ensuring the smooth progression of property transactions.

Job Overview:

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Conveyancer Assistant to support a Team Leader/Senior Conveyancer within our Residential Conveyancing team. This entry-level position is ideal for someone looking to start or develop their career in conveyancing, offering the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced legal environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Support:

  • Assist the Team Leader/Senior Conveyancer with general administrative tasks, including filing, scanning, and managing correspondence.
  • Open, maintain, and close case files, ensuring that all documentation is accurately organised and accessible.
  • Prepare basic legal documents such as letters, forms, and client care packs under supervision.

Client and Third-Party Communication:

  • Act as a point of contact for routine client inquiries, providing updates on the progress of their transactions.
  • Liaise with third parties such as estate agents, mortgage lenders, and local authorities to gather necessary information and documentation.
  • Schedule meetings and calls, ensuring all relevant parties are informed and prepared.

File Management and Compliance:

  • Assist in conducting preliminary checks on new instructions, including verifying client identity and gathering initial property information.
  • Ensure all files comply with legal, regulatory, and firm standards, conducting regular checks and updates.
  • Help prepare files for key stages of the conveyancing process, such as exchange and completion.

Learning and Development:

  • Gain an understanding of the conveyancing process by shadowing and assisting senior team members.
  • Participate in training sessions and take advantage of opportunities for professional development.
  • Develop proficiency in using conveyancing software and other legal tools.
  • Team Support:
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure a smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks.
  • Provide additional support to the Residential Conveyancing team during busy periods, assisting with overflow work as needed.
  • Contribute to team meetings and discussions, sharing insights and learning experiences.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Some administrative or office experience, ideally within a legal or professional services environment.
  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career in residential conveyancing.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and a willingness to learn new software.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a legal assistant role, particularly in conveyancing.
  • Basic understanding of the conveyancing process and associated documentation.
  • A-levels or equivalent qualifications, with an interest in law or property.
