MSB to support special event for International Womens Day to empower women
MSB are proud to be partnering a special event being delivered by Merseycare and by Savera UK, the Liverpool-based organisation that provides support to survivors of domestic and honour-based abuse.
Though situated in the North West, Savera UK provide assistance, support and advice nationally and works specifically with women from minority groups communities.
MSB have developed a close working relationship with Savera UK over many years, and offer regular pro bono advice to ensure the women they support have access to important legal advice. The aim is support all women including those in more isolated communities.
On March 28, Savera UK will host an all-female event at The Devonshire House Hotel in Liverpool to reflect on progress made and celebrate acts of courage and determination from women who have played an extraordinary role in bringing about positive change in their communities #betterforbalance.
Chief executive of Savera UK, Afrah Qassim, will open the evening’s proceedings and welcome speeches from Councillor Anne O’Byrne, Saba Ahmed from Women in the Community, journalist and broadcaster Ngunan Adamu and Wendy Eves, senior associate solicitor in our family department.
Speeches will be followed food and drink, and entertainment on the evening will include African drumming band Batala Mersey – you might spot our own Melissa Bosoboe, solicitor in our commercial property department who plays in the band during her spare time. The event is free to all women across Merseyside and 150 women are expected to attend.
Wendy Evens joined Afrah Qassim at Radio Merseyside this week to talk more about this very special event. You can hear the full interview and more about the event here.
