MSB’s Social Housing 2022 Highlight
Bringing you all the latest updates from the world of Social Housing.
As we approach the end of the year, we would like to wish all of our clients, partners and friends a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope you all enjoy your well-earned break!
2022 has been a busy and exciting year for the Social Housing Team, and here, we share just a few of our highlights with you.
Training
Over the course of the year, we delivered a total of 13 free online training sessions to our clients, which included our popular mock trial with Janine Green. We were also thrilled to see the return of in-person training events this year, along with hosting a number of bespoke training sessions for individuals which had been greatly missed during the pandemic. Not to mention, we also hosted two panels at the CIH conference in June which was a great experience.
Legal Developments
We are proud to have helped social housing providers navigate the various changes in legislation during 2022, providing ongoing assistance with repairs, housing management, ASB and enforcement.
Articles
Our team have stayed ahead of the curve on updates and information throughout the year, producing regular articles and monthly newsletters to keep our readers updated with changes in legislation and case law updates, while also providing top tips for dealing with housing law issues.
Expansion
This year saw the opening of our brand-new Manchester office, located in Hardman Square, Spinningfields. This has been an invaluable addition to the firm, allowing us to increase our services across the North West. We also welcomed a raft of new team members, with the arrival of a new solicitor, a new trainee, three paralegals and an admin assistant. They have all been incredible additions to the Social Housing team.
Clients
We have welcomed a number of new clients in 2022, allowing us to work with even more registered providers of social housing, as well as continuing to expand our Private Landlord work.
Charity
At MSB, we’re always looking for ways to support the causes we’re passionate about. Throughout 2022, we raised money for both the Anthony Walker Foundation and Mandela8, as well as donated Easter eggs and school uniforms for our clients to distribute in their local areas.
Over the festive period, the team donated toys, pyjamas and food to local charities and community groups across the region – no one will go without over the holidays. Another highlight saw us volunteer with a sheltered housing scheme where we helped to clean up a garden, and we were thrilled to play a role in Chinese New Year as part of the dancing dragon!
Finally, we’re proud to announce we will be entering 2023 as a 100% dementia friendly firm, after the whole company has now completed their training!
Celebrations And Achievements
It has been a year of achievements for the team this year. 2022 saw us celebrate special birthdays, an engagement, a newly qualified solicitor, two promotions to partner, a promotion to senior associate and some amazing exam results. We also had board appointments to WISH and South Liverpool Homes within the team, too!
Once again, we were recognised in The Legal 500 guide along with some fantastic client reviews and named once again in the prestigious The Times Best Law Firms 2023. We celebrated many of our achievements in the company of clients, hosted our annual event at Evuna and also had the honour of hosting the WISH Festive drinks and Networking event this month.
Events
Earlier this year, we attended the CIH Conference and the CIH Housing Camp, along with a number of pro-Manchester and pro-Liverpool events which have filled our social calendars. We also attended several law fairs and had the fantastic opportunity to commemorate both International Women’s Day and Pride Month with sponsored media campaigns and attending celebratory events.
