Welcome to MSB’s monthly Social Housing Newsletter!
Bringing you all the latest updates from the world of Social Housing.
A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all our clients, partners and friends! We hope you have a fantastic and well-deserved break!
Our Social Housing team has had a very busy year in 2024, so we would like to share a roundup of this year’s highlights…
TRAINING
We have launched an online legal surgery – MSB Live! Hosted by the team, this monthly session allows your legal queries to be answered, ranging from housing, asset and property management, to governance and ASB.
Free monthly webinars have also been hosted by the Social Housing Team, enabling clients to engage in a variety of online training sessions which cover different areas of Housing Law. To be added to the mailing list for these webinars please contact dominiqueowens@msbsolicitors.co.uk.
LEGAL DEVELOPMENTS
There have been some big legislative developments in 2024, including the Renters’ Rights Bill progressing to its second reading in Parliament, and changes to Right to Buy discounts. We have helped social housing providers navigate through these changes with our weekly articles, monthly newsletters, MSB Live and webinars. For a condensed round up of all the major housing updates in 2024, please see the December 2024 monthly webinar.
ARTICLES
The Social Housing weekly articles and monthly newsletters aim to keep you updated with changes in legislation and case law. They also provide top tips for dealing with housing law issues.
EXPANSION
This year MSB has opened two new offices in Birmingham and Chester. Within the Social Housing team, we have welcomed three new paralegals, two solicitors, two legal assistants and two trainee solicitors! These individuals have been great additions, and we are excited about our ever-growing expansion, both firm-wide and within the team.
CLIENTS
We have welcomed a number of new clients in 2023, working with even more registered providers of social housing, whilst also continuing to expand our Private Landlord work.
CHARITY
MSB are always looking for ways to support the causes that we care about. The Social Housing team has engaged with numerous charity events this year, raising crucial funds for a variety of charities. To name a few, we have held coffee mornings to raise money for Hoarding UK, collected Easter Eggs for a local food bank, entered a team into the Women in Property Step into Summer challenge as well as raised money for Bradbury Fields who offer support services to those living with sight loss and gifted toys to the Cash for Kids Mission Christmas. We love supporting great causes, so if you have any projects you would like us to get involved with, please contact thomasstockton@msbsolicitors.co.uk.
CELEBRATIONS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
We have had multiple promotions this year! Beth Hyams, Julia Michalczyk and Dominique Owens have been promoted to Associate. Abigail Eves and Alicia Manchester have been successful in securing training contracts at MSB. A massive well done to them all!
