The regulations relating to benefit entitlement are complex and can often be misunderstood. Most people investigated for benefit fraud were genuinely entitled when the claim was made to receive their benefits, however, often the situation changes and they become ineligible for benefit but fail to tell the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
